It's always fun to stop by Benson Lake. Benson Lake is one of the lakes here in the Central Cascade Range. So much enjoyable stuff in the Central Cascade Range, just phenomenal. You get a great view of Scott Mountain from Benson Lake, and paddling on Horse Creek is so much fun. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Benson Lake. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 20's
   for Benson Lake.
And that's not all the things you can do here in the Central Cascade Range. Gotta ski! Hoodoo is a great site to do that, and hiking along the Hand Lake Trail is brilliant fun. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge, and what would winter be without some skiing at Mt. Bachelor. So much cool stuff to do at Benson Lake, so little time. If you came for an overnight stay Tombstone Prairie Campground is a magnificent place

to camp, and Butler Spring is a good local attraction.
This lake is so wonderful. Get wet paddling on Marion Creek, and do take a hike on the Benson Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Deer Butte Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by Elf Lake. All the water falling down from the sky makes Benson Lake a wet location; through December this area sees the most rain while July is commonly the driest month.

Winopee Lake
16 miles away
Went to Winopee lake this weekend...it was a little dissapointing because the lake is about 45% covered with reeds and lilly pads. The Eastern shore is the only one you can accesst the water without having to wade through reeds. There is quite a few algae blooms so swimming isn't an option. Overall, the view was nice but not spectacular. There are three decent campsites at the lake, popular with horse camps. The best of the three sites is the one on the Eastern bank, take the first trail you come accross before reaching the junction for sno-shoe lake. The second and third campsites are on the West bank and are a little harder to find...head for the clifs and you are there....
