This lake is so wonderful. Twin Ponds is a nearby lake that you could check out, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Bates Pond; Lost Lake Trail is a great local trail. This site, the Blue Mountains, has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. Bates Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out. Camping is available at Looney Spring Campground, and there's brilliant hiking along the Davis Creek Trail.       Around Bates Pond you don’t get a lot of rainfall; May is when you get the most rain here while July is mostly the driest month. For the period of the warm months here at Bates Pond, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. Throughout the wintertime highs are typically in the 40's, and overnight lows at Bates Pond during the wintertime usually plunge into the 20's. You believe that's sufficient? Just                  getting warmed up. Placer Gulch is a fine spot to spend some time at, and if you get bored of Bates Pond you could also check out close by Upper Reservoir.
