If you are traveling by, why not stop by Lake Ann. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Ann a wet site; the month with most of the rain is December while July is regularly the driest month. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Lake Ann, and the night is a bit chillier of course, commonly in the 50's. Highs throughout the winter are mostly in the 40's while Lake Ann night low temperatures through the winter are in the 30's. This

| | place, the Central Cascade Range, has so much outdoors cool things. Whitewater paddling is wonderful on Santiam River - North; why not take a refreshing hike along the Blue Lake Trail. If you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Marion Creek. So many enjoyable things to do in the Central Cascade Range, not enough time. A tour to Gatch Falls will fill your soul with good feelings, and you can make out Marion Mountain from Lake Ann. | |

This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Lodge at Suttle Lake; you're in all probability keen on lakes, Jenny Lake is one of those close by. This lake is so wonderful. Looking for some flowing water? Try Eight Lakes
Creek; Lake Ann is right by the Swallow Lake Trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Cascade Range. If you came to camp Wizard Falls Campground is a great site to do that, and the Marion Lake Trail offers hiking
at its best. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Hoodoo is right next door to Lake Ann, and if you've had enough of Lake Ann, Marion Lake is close by. If you need a place to stay
Best Western Ponderosa Lodge is a great choice. There's so much to do here at Lake Ann that you need to camp here for a while, Trout Lake Campground is a great place for that.

Jefferson Lake Trail
 | I just completed this trail with my German Shepherd and had a great time. We made Jefferson Lake in 4 hours, stayed the night and returned at a faster pace, making the trailhead in 3 hours. A big portion of the trail is overgrown with 5ft. tall plant life, making the trail impossible to see. I used a compass to stay on course and bushwhack for about 3 miles, then picked up the trail again. It's obvious this trail hasn't received any attention from the forest service for some time now,so plan on using your nav skills on this one. We encountered a braver-than-average black bear while encamped at Jefferson Lake, and had difficulty finding a suitable place to hang a bear bag since all the trees are limbless due to a forest fire. My dog, Sigg, is a good bear deterrant and took the night shift guarding the food bag. If you are considering this trail, start early enough so you're not walking in the dark and bring some good jungle juice (deet). Bear bells may be useful as well. Hope this helps somebody!... |
