I was using a 5''0 rod and real with 6 lb. test. I always go to Wal-Mart before I head out to the lake I spend about 20$ on one fishing trip, but it's worth it because there are some nice slab's in web lake. I use read and white jigs ( make sure use the plastic bodies ) not feather they are a waste of time the plastic is better it percents more of a natural fall for fish. thanks have fun and be safe..... This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Pennington Creek, and why not camp at Soldier Creek Resort and Marina while you're here at Webb Lake. If you come at the right time of year, Blue River offers some tremendous whitewater, and dry warm beds await you at Four Feathers Lodge. For the duration of the       warm months, highs generally are in the 90's at Webb Lake, and the overnight is fairly chillier of course, usually in the 70's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Webb Lake are in the 20's.
