These mountains rock, just look at all the exciting stuff to do in the Ouachita Mountains. Kiamichi River is a delightful whitewater spot in the vicinity of Shadwick Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Days Inn and Suites Poteau. Throughout the summertime months at Shadwick Lake temperatures are generally in the 90's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 70's. Through the       winter highs are in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Shadwick Lake are in the 20's. If you want a nice time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Ouachita Mountains. Shadwick Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Big Cedar RV Park and Cabins is a great local campground; the peak of Lost Mountain can be seen from Shadwick Lake. Shadwick Lake Dam is a place that is close to Shadwick Lake, and you can run the rapids of Big Creek. Camping                  at Winding Star Campground is always a magnificent experience, and if you need a place to stay Best Western Traders Inn is a nice choice. This lake is so wonderful. People from Fort Smith love to come to Shadwick Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Shadwick Lake, you'll locate Gaither Lake which is a charming lake, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Boardstand Trail. Shadwick Lake gets a great deal of water; May is the wettest month with most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. And that's not all you can do here at Shadwick Lake.
