From a rainfall point of view Rocket Lake is a reasonably common place; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here; the driest month is January. If you want a glorious time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Ouachita Mountains. Super 8 Motel and RV Park is a fine local campground, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Kiowa is a good place to spend a night or two. This       lake is so wonderful. Rocket Lake Dam is an exciting thing to check out; if you need a location to stay Best Western Inn Of Mcalester is a great choice. During the warm months at Rocket Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 90's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 70's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Rocket Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Camp Walk On Water is a good campground nearby; you're                  probably into lakes, Dr Number 2 Reservoir is one of those nearby. Here at Rocket Lake you'll probably meet some folks from McAlester; obviously, this is a fine region for folks who like lakes, Reservoir Number 2 is a lake in the neighborhood.
