The warmest time of the year at Prison Lake comes with high temperatures in the 90's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Prison Lake dip into the 20's. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Ouachita Mountains. Mcalester Super 8 Motel is a magnificent       site to get some rest; you'll find a picturesque lake called Lake Talawanda Number 1. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Super 8 Motel and RV Park, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Inn Of Mcalester is a magnificent place to spend a night or two. Prison Lake gets a typical amount of yearly rain; through May this area sees the most rain; January on the other hand is the driest. Prison Lake Dam is beautiful and it's right next door                  to Prison Lake, and you'll meet a lot of folks from McAlester here.
