During the summer, highs usually are in the 90's at Mckown Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 70's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and overnight lows at Mckown Lake throughout the wintertime regularly dip into the 30's. Shady Cove RV Park is a good local campground, and Chickasaw National Recreation Area is a very glorious site to go to. This lake is so wonderful. If you need       a place to stay La Quinta Inn and Suites Ardmore is a pleasant choice; the scenery at Mckown Lake Dam is stunning. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff at Mckown Lake. If you're a golfer then a good nearby course is Lakeview Golf Course, and if the weather is tremendous, you can go for a hike along the Cliffside Trail. This lake is located in the wonderful Arbuckle Mountains. If you're visiting Mckown Lake from Ardmore,                  you won't be the only one, and there are some fine whitewater spots on Washita River. From a rainfall point of view Mckown Lake is a pretty normal location; the wettest month of the year is usually May, that's the one that rains the most; January on the other hand is the driest. All year is a glorious time in the Arbuckle Mountains if you adore the outdoors. A great nearby hotel is Candlewood Suites ARDMORE; why not camp at Lake Murray State Park since you're here at Mckown Lake.
