     There's always Kemp Lake Dam to go to close to Kemp Lake; McCarley Lake is a fine lake nearby. Summertime highs at Kemp Lake typically tend to be in the 90's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 70's. During the winter highs are regularly in the 50's, and night lows throughout the wintertime for Kemp Lake tend to be in the 20's. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Kemp Lake; throughout May this area sees the most rain, and January  
   on the other hand is the driest. There's just no way someone can get bored here at Kemp Lake. Kemp Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Colbert Koa Kampground is a good local campground, and the great people of Durant like to hang out nearby.
If you need a spot to stay Microtel Inn and Suites Durant is a fine choice. Lakes? Sure, McCarley Lake is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Sherrard Rv & KOA Kampgrounds is always a tremendous
 
               experience; on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Eisenhower State Park Trail. It's a delightful idea to take a look at Eastman Creek, it's near Kemp Lake, and a tremendous nearby hotel is Best Western Texoma Hotel & Suites.
The Herman Baker Park Trail is a delightful hiking trail close to Kemp Lake.

You are right.  Alot of my best childhood memories are of that place.  I am stationed in Iraq right now and cant wait to get home and just take a nice walk around the lake...Same here.  I am 29 stationed in Iraq, I don't know how many times I have fished hiked and slid down the dam.  I have a picture hanging up here of my grandfather standing by the lake holding a small mouth bass.  A lot of my best memories growing up took place at that small oasis....Same as Armando...My mom used to take us and have picnics and we would get boxes and just slide down the hills.  It's so pretty there.  Just dont go at night......
