This lake is located in the wonderful Ouachita Mountains. Hartshorne Lake typically gets a lot of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month is January. Throughout the summertime months here at Hartshorne Lake, high temperatures       generally reach the 90's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 70's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; during the dark hours in the winter at Hartshorne Lake temperatures sink to the 20's. So much exciting stuff to do here in the Ouachita Mountains, too good to be true. Hartshorne Lake is a tremendous spot to visit for more than one day, Indian Mounds Camp is a tremendous spot to camp nearby, and going for a hike on                  the High Rock Trail is always a nice adventure. You can take a little tour to Hartshorne Lake Dam while you're here at Hartshorne Lake; Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Mcalester, Ok is a good place to get some rest. Man, is there plenty of fun stuff to do in close proximity to Hartshorne Lake. Hartshorne Lake is a spot with many visitors from McAlester. This lake is so wonderful.
