You don’t have to go far from Hartshorne Lake to observe the water at Hartshorne Lake Dam, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Crumb Creek Trail. During the summer, highs mostly are in the 90's at Hartshorne Lake. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 40's with temperatures at Hartshorne Lake dipping down into the 20's       throughout winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites MCALESTER-GEORGE NIGH EXP. is a good site to spend a night or two, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Clear Creek Trail. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this spot. Camping is available at Sardis Lake Campground. If you came for an overnight stay Super 8 Motel and RV Park is a great place to camp, and if you're here you                  can take a hike along the High Rock Trail. The Ouachita Mountains scenery is always beautiful. From a rain point of view Hartshorne Lake is a pretty normal site; throughout May this area sees the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. Man, is there plenty of entertaining things to do in the Ouachita Mountains.
