Why not take a refreshing hike along the Clayton Trail, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Anderson Creek. The good people of McAlester like to hang out nearby. The Ouachita Mountains       scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Clayton Lake; Walters Mule Trail is a delightful local trail; do stop by Clayton Lake Dam if you're here. For the period of the summer months at Clayton Lake highs are mostly in the 90's while overnight lows are regularly in the 70's. Throughout the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Clayton Lake temperatures                  drop to the 20's.
