Do stop by Beaver Lake while you're in this part of Oklahoma. So much cool stuff in the Ouachita Mountains, just amazing. Camping at Horse Thief Spring Campground is always a brilliant experience, and Gaither Lake Dam has perfect water scenery. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Boardstand Trail, and there's whitewater on Big Creek for all you adrenaline junkies. Caston Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth stopping at, and

| | if you get bored of Beaver Lake you could also stop by close by Wister Lake.
And that's not all there is to do here in the Ouachita Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Kiamichi River. Through the months of summer here at Beaver Lake, high temperatures frequently get into the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 70's. There are glorious locations to discover along the Billy Creek Trail; Best Western Traders Inn is a great place to get some rest. Beaver Lake mostly gets much rainfall; May is when you get the most rain
here, and the driest month of the year is January. This lake is located in the wonderful Ouachita Mountains.
