Many people like to go to Upper Shaker Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay The Glidden House is a magnificent choice; why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Euclid City Briardale Golf Course. The skiing at Boston Mills is good; get your pulse rate up on the nice whitewater of Chippewa Creek.
This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Upper Shaker Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Tamsin

| | RV Park is a good place for that; dry warm beds await you at Econo Lodge Warrensville Heights. At Upper Shaker Lake throughout the warm months highs are in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. Highs during the winter are mostly in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Upper Shaker Lake. Brandywine is a nice local ski area; if you get bored of Upper Shaker Lake you could also explore close by | |

is one of the destinations that are splendid to stop at close by. There's whitewater on Tinker's Creek for all you thrill seekers, and you can stay the night at Bass Isle Resort And Camping. A typical amount of rain falls here at
Upper Shaker Lake; June is the month that gets the most rain while January is mostly the driest month.

Virginia Kendall Park Lake

The dam was washed out in 2007, and is under repair. In the meantime it is very neat to be able to see the bottom of the lake. When I was a kid there used to be wooden toggonan runs that shot the tobbogans out onto the frozen lake at the end. The nearby Virginia Hills are still a great place for sledding, one of the best in the area.
Tamsin Park has been replaced by a housing subdivision. However, not far from Virginia Kendall in Boston is a American Youth Hostel, and there are several bed and breakfasts in the area as well. I don't know of any place to camp in the area (unless you are a boy or girl scout, they have camps nearby.)
If you enjoy biking, the nearby towpath trail winds along the old canal from Cleveland to Akron, and is a beautiful ride.... |

The sewage treatment plant just up river of the put-in location can make paddling after a big rain a little smelly. The park doesn't recommend any paddling on the river, and if you are going you should check their website for construction on the bridges along the way.... |
