Turkeyfoot Lake is always a pleasure to visit. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors amusing things the area near Turkeyfoot Lake has to offer. After a long day outdoors Hampton Inn Akron-South, Oh is a great location to spend a night or two, and float down the rapids of Cuyahoga River in a kayak. At Turkeyfoot Lake you always meet someone from Akron, and if you came to camp Clays Park Resort is a tremendous place to do that. This lake is so wonderful.

| | If you get bored of Turkeyfoot Lake, you could also visit nearby Portage Lakes; skiing at Brandywine is one of those things you just ought to do.
Turkeyfoot Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Landing is a nice local campground, and a visit to Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area is recommended. This lake is so wonderful. Mills. Getting to Feeder Race River from Turkeyfoot Lake is simple; Mud Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore.
A round of golf at nearby Turkeyfoot Golf Course is a brilliant way to kill some time, and while you're here

| This lake is a natural lake made up of many springs. From the many arrow heads found around the lake there is no doubt that it was home to indiginous tribes at one time or another. In the early part of the 20th century it was a summer retreat for some people. In the late 60's early 70's it was a great venue for local bands to play and a summer park with swimming etc. as well.... |

The sewage treatment plant just up river of the put-in location can make paddling after a big rain a little smelly. The park doesn't recommend any paddling on the river, and if you are going you should check their website for construction on the bridges along the way.... |
Virginia Kendall Park Lake

The dam was washed out in 2007, and is under repair. In the meantime it is very neat to be able to see the bottom of the lake. When I was a kid there used to be wooden toggonan runs that shot the tobbogans out onto the frozen lake at the end. The nearby Virginia Hills are still a great place for sledding, one of the best in the area.
Tamsin Park has been replaced by a housing subdivision. However, not far from Virginia Kendall in Boston is a American Youth Hostel, and there are several bed and breakfasts in the area as well. I don't know of any place to camp in the area (unless you are a boy or girl scout, they have camps nearby.)
If you enjoy biking, the nearby towpath trail winds along the old canal from Cleveland to Akron, and is a beautiful ride.... |
