Mud River
 | 15 miles away This is an answer to Cindy's question about the Guyandotte River. There is a put-in at Branchland, then a take-out 3 1/2 hours downstream at Salt Rock. A very nice float with a few riffles, lots of fish and wildlife for viewing. You can also put-in or take-out at the mouth of Mud river in Barboursville which is good for a Mud River or Guyandotte River float. Salt Rock to B'ville would be a great all day float on the Guyandotte, I'm guessing 10 to 12 miles....There is no way there could be any rapids on the Mud River. I agree with the writer below. However, I would love to flatwater kayak down the Guyan which is closer to Beech Fork State Park than the Mud. It connects to the Mud in Barboursville and runs into the Ohio a few miles later. It should be a very plesant peaceful trip. I just can not locate a putin spot. Can any one help? I live 10 miles away from the BF campground. Thanks... |
