Hoover Reservoir
What happened to the camp grounds at Hoover!!!!This is neededback!!!We had great fun there....We recently discovered Hoover Reservoir. It's a beautiful lake, though much, if not most, is inaccessible due to ''private propery''. It appears there are several new access areas however. One can drive entirely around it in less than 30 minutes. The area around the damn, and the area around the other end (the ''Big Walnut Creek'' flow into the lake is also very nice. It's sorta hard to find a quiet area as it is near Columbus. It's well worth a visit....

Jackson Lake Park

Tent Sites, RV Hookups, Pets OK, Fires OK, Nearby Grocery, Pool, Gameroom...PETS:No Rott Weillers, Pit Bulls or other threatening breeds allowed., GROCERY:Within a mile from the park., POOL:Our pool is being renovated, to open later in the season.  We do not have an opening date at this time., GAMEROOM:From Memorial Day - Labor Day...Jackson Lake Campground and Park is only 15 miles from Columbus, OH.  We offer year round R.V. camping and seasonal tent camping.  We have a 3 acre fishing lake for catch and release fishing, a game room and facilities that may be rented for special events, during our season.  Seasonal rates available....

Olentangy River
16 miles away
This is runnable only when the Delaware Dam is releasing.  Check the USGS gauge, which should be at least 1000 cfs....

Scioto River
18 miles away
We tried this stretch of river yesterday. It was a complete waste of time. The water was flat and still. There wasn't enough current to even move us. We had to paddle the 1m back to the take-out location. What a bust! =(...How deep is the river?...The map above I believe is incorrect. It clearly shows the put in ABOVE the O'Shaughnessy dam. Are we supposed to shoot over the spill way to a 84 foot high concrete dam? Also, the take out location appears to be the back yard of a secured private residence. Well, according to the map anyway. I wish there was more information about this location....
