There's so much to do here at Rays Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, James J Cotter's Camping is a splendid location for that, and there are good places to look at along the Indian Mound Trail. Go for a hike on the Sycamore Valley Trail; you'll meet a lot of people from Athens here. Super 8 Motel - Athens is a great spot to get some rest, and you can stay the night at Smoke Rise Resport and       Campgrounds. From a rainfall point of view Rays Lakes is a relatively typical spot; the month with most of the rain is July while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If only every spot had this much outdoors amusing things, what a great earth it would be. Good hiking is available along the Lakeview Trail. At Rays Lakes during the months of summer highs are in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in                  the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Rays Lakes temperatures sink to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
