Having a fine time at Payne Lake is painless. Buffalo Creek is next to Payne Lake and is always a pleasure to stop at, and nice hiking is available along the Deer Hollow Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There's a fine forest next to Payne Lake called Wayne National Forest - Ironton       Ranger District, and the peak of Miller Hill can be made out from Payne Lake. A normal amount of rain falls here at Payne Lake; August is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the summertime at Payne Lake temperatures are usually in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Payne Lake are in the                  20's. This lake is so wonderful.
