Going for a hike on the Vondergreen Trail is always a good adventure; get dripping wet paddling on Little Beaver Creek. The annual rain here at Newport Lake is about average; June is when you get the most rain here, and February is the month with the least moisture. If you came to camp Cherry Valley Camp Ground is a tremendous location to do that, and naturally, this is a       tremendous neighborhood for folks who like lakes, Rose Lake is a lake in close proximity. Through the summertime, highs mostly are in the 80's at Newport Lake. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Newport Lake temperatures dip to the 10's. Why not stop by nearby Andersons Run since you're here at Newport Lake; if you need a place to stay Days                  Inn Boardman is a great choice. This is no site for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Whitewater paddling is pleasant on Little Beaver Creek, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Youngstown-So (Boardman), Oh. There's so much to do here at Newport Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Homestead Campground is a delightful place for that, and the Pine Ridge Trail is a perfect hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Newport Lake Dam is beautiful and it's near Newport Lake, and nearby you come across the Dogwood Trail which is a good hiking trail.
