Going for a hike on the Lamping Trail is always a splendid adventure, and Upper Woodsfield Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could go to. Monroe Lake is a good site of common rain; the month with most of the rain is July; the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Shadow Lake Resort, and Monroe Lake Dam has perfect water scenery. And that's not all you can do       here at Monroe Lake. Take a side journey to Wheeler Run, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Switzerland of Ohio Country Club is in close proximity. There's so much to do here at Monroe Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Barkcamp State Park is a great site for that; you can go for a hike on the River Trail. Throughout the summer months, highs mostly are in the 80's                  at Monroe Lake. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's.
