If you are traveling by, why not stop by Mirror Lake. If you came for an overnight stay Cross Creek Camping Resort is a good place to camp, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Hawthorn Loop Trail. From a rain point of view Mirror Lake is a pretty normal spot; July is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. A pretty lake like Rich Street Low Head Reservoir close to Mirror Lake is a great place to visit,

| | and swamps don’t sound that wonderful but Buckeye Swamp near Mirror Lake is relatively wonderful.
This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water close by, Olentangy River is a stream you can visit during your stay, and a splendid location for whitewater paddling is Olentangy River. Fifth Avenue Low Head Reservoir is a tremendous lake right next door to Mirror Lake, and if the weather is pleasant, you can go for a hike along the Sassafras Horse Trail. | |

Yeah, come here to Mirror Lake for a pleasant time. While you're here at Mirror Lake you will meet lots of folks from close by Columbus.
So many entertaining things to do here at Mirror Lake, too perfect to be true. On a delightful
day at Mirror Lake you can take a hike along the Five Oaks Trail, and a delightful close by hotel is The Blackwell- A Summit Hotel. The warmest time of the year at Mirror Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and during
the night it cools down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Mirror Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Safari Golf Club is a golf course right
next door to Mirror Lake; Alton RV Park is a nice local campground.
Glen Echo Hollow is near Mirror Lake and is unquestionably a magnificent spot to stop at, and after a long day outdoors Varsity Inn is a perfect place to spend
a night or two. Get your heart beating on the splendid whitewater of Scioto River, and Fifth Avenue Low Head Dam is not far at all from Mirror Lake.

What happened to the camp grounds at Hoover!!!!This is neededback!!!We had great fun there....We recently discovered Hoover Reservoir. It's a beautiful lake, though much, if not most, is inaccessible due to ''private propery''. It appears there are several new access areas however. One can drive entirely around it in less than 30 minutes. The area around the damn, and the area around the other end (the ''Big Walnut Creek'' flow into the lake is also very nice. It's sorta hard to find a quiet area as it is near Columbus. It's well worth a visit.... |

We tried this stretch of river yesterday. It was a complete waste of time. The water was flat and still. There wasn't enough current to even move us. We had to paddle the 1m back to the take-out location. What a bust! =(...How deep is the river?...The map above I believe is incorrect. It clearly shows the put in ABOVE the O'Shaughnessy dam. Are we supposed to shoot over the spill way to a 84 foot high concrete dam? Also, the take out location appears to be the back yard of a secured private residence. Well, according to the map anyway. I wish there was more information about this location.... |
