Bunker Hill Golf Course
Beautiful and challenging.. Have many fond memories of playing golf here the past twenty years. Nothing like the 9th and 18th holes....Big surprises....
Ridge Top Golf Course
I love this course.. Different and rural and at the same time well maintained.. Interesting fact is the continental divide crosses the 7th fairway....
Yellow Creek
13 miles away the week of july 3 has been a nasty one for yellow creek. a developer in richfield has clear cut into zoned conservation district. some of this district was even under the control of the western reserve conservation district and they were never informed. this land is within 100 feet of the northern most feeder creek to yellow creek. any help we could receive with this matter would be appreciated....
Cuyahoga River
16 miles away The sewage treatment plant just up river of the put-in location can make paddling after a big rain a little smelly. The park doesn't recommend any paddling on the river, and if you are going you should check their website for construction on the bridges along the way....
Boston Mills
17 miles away Boston Mills is great!!!...
Brandywine
17 miles away My grandparents live right by Brandywine so I get to go snowboarding every time we visit them in the winter....
Summit Lake
| 18 miles away You would be crazy to swim in that lake. The place is very polluted. This 'hood isn't exactly a vacation area.
...Summit Lake is an old man-made reservoir for the ohio/erie and ohio/pennsylvania canal systems in the area. There used to be an amusement park with beach/swimming area on the east side of the lake many years ago. Plenty of swimming spots just a mile or so south at Portage Lakes....Summit lake is an inner city lake that has no swimming. there is fishing but fish from the lake are not safe to eat, there have been 3 alligators caught there in recent years (seriously) The area is known to be quite dangerous after dark. There are some lovely areas just south of the city that are much safer. Summit Lake....not so much... |
Virginia Kendall Park Lake
19 miles away The dam was washed out in 2007, and is under repair. In the meantime it is very neat to be able to see the bottom of the lake. When I was a kid there used to be wooden toggonan runs that shot the tobbogans out onto the frozen lake at the end. The nearby Virginia Hills are still a great place for sledding, one of the best in the area. Tamsin Park has been replaced by a housing subdivision. However, not far from Virginia Kendall in Boston is a American Youth Hostel, and there are several bed and breakfasts in the area as well. I don't know of any place to camp in the area (unless you are a boy or girl scout, they have camps nearby.) If you enjoy biking, the nearby towpath trail winds along the old canal from Cleveland to Akron, and is a beautiful ride....
Shawnee Lake Park
19 miles away This is a great campground the people who own it are the kindest friendliest people you can meet. The camp sites are nice size and it is a quiet place to go and relax. They always have lots of activities planned for both kids and adults. We are doing our seasonal there next year. Mrs.Hands...
