Why not camp at Rustic Knolls Campground while you're here at Lake Hiawatha, and if you need a place to stay Super 8 MT. Vernon is a tremendous choice. This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Snow Trails and strap some skis to your feet. A round of golf at nearby Apple Valley Golf Course is a magnificent way to kill some time;       since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out nearby Knox Lake. Be careful coming to Lake Hiawatha, you might not ever want to return back home again. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Clear Fork. Lakes? Sure, Edward Smith Lake is in the neighborhood. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Mount Vernon, and during your tour here you'll meet some folks from Mount Vernon for sure.                  The amount of precipitation that falls at Lake Hiawatha is close to the national average; during May this area sees the most rain, and January is when it's the driest. If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Clear Fork of Mohican; as expected Adams Run flows through this area. High temperatures at Lake Hiawatha throughout the summer months are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's.
