Hall's Creek
Halls is a great run when it has water it is very hard to catch with good flow in it though. Ledges include a 10-12 footer (two of them) 4-5 foot and some nice smaller drops, it is a short run with a lot of action......
Olive Branch Campground
Wow! This is by far the cleanest and most family friendly campground I have ever been to. There was ONE bug in the bathroom. The showers were obviously cleaned more than once a day. There are short trails to hike on site. There is also a camp store that is well stocked and reaswonably priced. One other major attraction is that it is less than a mile from Interstate 71 and only three exits from King's Island. There are tons of other fun activities close by such as canoeing, horseback riding and SHOPPING. Kudos to the owners on running a wonderful campground. ...
Horner Run
Horner is a great run with 3 major drops from 6 feet to 10-11 feet, the only problem is the take out. First you could carry the mile and a half out a trail on river left, or go under interstate 275 through a 100 yard long tunnel scout the tunnel first for strainers, third you could walk several hundred yards up to 275 and get out on the interstate shoulder. With all this in mind you might as well say forget Horner and head for Halls creek or Hershel run. Both have way easier put-in's and take out's...
Caesar Creek
Caesar creek is at most class 2. I work as a river guide in Tennessee and West Virgina, and Caesar's a pretty run lots of history with the shawnee....This can be run only when the USGS gauge is 7' or more, or when the ouflow from the dam is about 400 cfs....there are wave trains of approximately 2 feet in height. it is overall just a fun long set rapids for 3 miles...
Lake Isabella
10 miles away Is there access to the Little Miami Bike Trail from Lake Isabella Park?...
Lake Allyn
14 miles away Lake Allyn no longer exists:http://homepage.mac.com/jjakucyk/Transit1/cgp/pages/page_47.html It filled in with sediment and was drained a few years ago....
Spring Valley Frontier Campground
15 miles away This is a very nice and friendly campground. The owner went out of her way to make sure our camping experience was pleasant. The bike is easy to access....
Cowan Lake
16 miles away It is not impossible for water mocassins to be in a lake. Where do you think they get there name from? They are not land mocassins....I camp at cowan as often as I can. Not too much luck with the fish but really nice park....I had camped at Cowan lake back in the early 70's and was told there were Water Mocassins in Cowan Lake but have been told that is impossible, is it?...
Dogwood Trail
19 miles away As I spend most of each summer at Cowan Lake State Park, I have become very familar with each of its trails. One of my favorites is the dogwood trail. I always enjoy a somewhat scenic hike and then reach the fields of blackberries. I can typically find 30 to 40 ripened blackberries on each bush and I enjoy my findings very much. It is great trail whether you eenjoy blackberries or not....
