What a nice lake Green Lake is. You can never get enough of the nice skiing at Perfect North; hiking along the Little Turtle Trail is nice fun. Man, is there plenty of enjoyable stuff to do next to Green Lake. If you're dropping by Green Lake from Cincinnati-Middletown, you won't be the only one. This lake is so wonderful. Hit the beach if you want, Long Island Beach is practically right here; of course Taylor Creek flows through this vicinity. High temperatures

| | at Green Lake all through the summer months are in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Green Lake are in the 10's. If you need a place to stay Comfort Suites Hebron is a glorious choice, and you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Blue Jacket Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Deer Run Country Club is in close proximity, and lakes are such peaceful places, why not stop at Miamiview Golf Course Pond Number Two. You'll need more
than a day to explore everything Green Lake has to offer, you can camp at Indian Springs Campground; a great place for whitewater paddling is Gunpowder Creek. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this spot. Get your pulse rate
up on the good whitewater of Great Miami River, and there's some interesting stuff to spot at Green Lake Dam close to Green Lake. There's so much to do here at Green Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Hickory Lake Campground is a tremendous spot for that, and there's a forest here called Mitchell Memorial Forest.

 | Having paddled the 70 miles of the Great Miami, the WW is great for beginners or rec paddlers wanting to have a little excitement added to their trip. Water Quality is good, in fact it can be better then the Little Miami during low water. Best time to hit the GM is when it is running between 2500cfs and 3800cfs (Hamilton USGS gage if your looking for some WW. There isn't too many places in the summer in the Midwest you can find good water and waves, but the Great Miami still flows well in August....50 hole is not much of a surf and it is a porta john....... |

 | 12 miles away wow thats crazy......ll horton and i have went down this stretch of gunpowder creek before. i lived on gunpoweder for about five years. i went to work with a friend of mine name tim baynum who live up gunpowerder about a mile from me. we always talked about taking his canoe through this stretch. what i guess i should tell you where gunpowder crosses camp ernst rd there is not much water most times of the year. but one spring day a thunder storm had just pass and go over and when we came throuh ole gunpowder was cooking pretty good we went and got his canoe and put in at the bridge thier at camp ernst rd. the water was white caping man we were moving really fast it was great. we went about a mile when we saw a tree that had fallen all the way across the creek we started to paddle for the bank when we got up to the bank i push to get us on the bank and my paddle broke in half in my hand. so here we are about a mile down creek with one paddle.so much for old wooded paddles we packed the canoe around the tree and put back in well needless to say its hard to steer a canoe with one paddle . we met the first ... |
