Around yr 2000, the dam at the West end of the lake broke and the lake drained. All that's left is the creek that was originally dammed to make the lake, along with the broken dam. Camp Chicagami is a Boy Scout camp located on the shore of where the lake used to be. It was about a 30 acre lake, and it's a shame that it's gone now. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Moss Beach Club Lake is around here. Summertime highs at Lake Estabrook generally tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while Lake Estabrook       overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. Why not camp at Kool Lakes Campground since you're here at Lake Estabrook, and Shangri-La Ski Club Dam is an interesting thing to check out. Papa Joe's Family Campground is a perfect local campground, and the Beaver Run Trail offers hiking at its best. This location is great, just look at all the entertaining things to do right next door to Lake Estabrook. There's great hiking along the Clubmoss Trail,                  and a pleasant nearby hotel is Econo Lodge Newton Falls. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Estabrook a wet spot; the month with most of the rain is June; February is when it's the driest. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Big Creek, and Owen Pond is a great lake nearby. This lake is so wonderful.
