Hamilton County Park District is a great  
   campground nearby, and after a long day outdoors Courtyard Hamilton is a great site to spend a night or two.
The yearly rainfall here at Camp Ross Trails Lake is about average; May is when you get the most rain here, and January is when it's the driest. Glide down the rapids of Gunpowder Creek in a kayak. Summer at Camp Ross Trails Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. For
 
               the duration of the winter highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Camp Ross Trails Lake.
The West Shore Trail is a perfect hiking trail next to Camp Ross Trails Lake, and Indian Springs Campground is a good local campground. Camp Ross Trails Lake is not far at all from Cincinnati-Middletown; Zillig Pond is a delightful lake nearby. Camp Ross Trails Lake Dam is worth a visit while you're here, and paddling on Great Miami River is so much fun.
Man, is there a heap of amusing things to do near Camp Ross Trails Lake. Lakes? Sure, Dever Pond is in the vicinity, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Little Turtle Trail.

Having paddled the 70 miles of the Great Miami, the WW is great for beginners or rec paddlers wanting to have a little excitement added to their trip.  Water Quality is good, in fact it can be better then the Little Miami during low water.  Best time to hit the GM is when it is running between 2500cfs and 3800cfs (Hamilton USGS gage if your looking for some WW.  There isn't too many places in the summer in the Midwest you can find good water and waves, but the Great Miami still flows well in August....50 hole is not much of a surf and it is a porta john.......

wow thats crazy......out a mile when we saw a tree that had fallen all the way across the creek we started to paddle for the bank when we got up to the bank i push to get us on the bank and my paddle broke in half in my hand. so here we are about a mile down creek with one paddle.so much for old wooded paddles we packed the canoe around the tree and put back in well needless to say its hard to steer a canoe with one paddle . we met the first tree limb that was hanging over it knock our butts out of the boat .were going down the creek with the canoe upside down . there is no getting your footing . we finally got to a calm spot i guess a deep pool were we could get to the bank flip the canoe upright and proceed again it wasnt very long til the same type of deal happend again this time leaving the canoe pinned against a tree. the water was rushing in were you could not free it. finally tin worked it free the canoe spun out in the creek he had a hold on the rope that was tied to the front. well the rope broke there goes the canoe and we are not in it. tim swims after it like tarzan and catches it .we got...
