Why not check out Columbia Lake Dam since you're here, and Oakwood at Park Hill at Fairlawn is a good site to get some rest. Nothing beats kicking back at Turkeyfoot Beach, and there are other locations here than Lake Anna, for example Columbia Lake. The amount of precipitation that falls at Lake Anna is close to the national average; the wettest month of the year is generally May, that's the one that rains the most, and January is when it's the driest. This is
a popular place for folks from Akron, and Lake Anna is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Camelot Camping Grounds is a tremendous local campground.
After a long day outdoors Four Points By Sheraton Akron West is a perfect spot to spend a night or two, and if you have time, Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area is a national park worth stopping at. Gotta ski! Boston Mills is a delightful site to do that, and why not spend some time golfing

at a close by golf course like Loyal Oak Golf Course Golf Cpourse. This lake is so wonderful. There are some glorious whitewater spots on Cuyahoga River, and everybody nearby loves skiing at Brandywine.
That right there is loads already, but it carries on; Lake Anna has it all. Not far from Lake Anna, you'll come across Lake Dorothy which is a scenic lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Yellow Creek. This is no spot for people who don’t like to have fun. At Lake Anna throughout the summer highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; nighttime lows at Lake Anna all through the winter generally sink into the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Hudson Run is a stream you can pop by while here, and camping at Clays Park Resort is always a pleasant experience.

Summit Lake
You would be crazy to swim in that lake.  The place is very polluted. This 'hood isn't exactly a vacation area. ...Summit Lake is an old man-made reservoir for the ohio/erie and ohio/pennsylvania canal systems in the area. There used to be an amusement park with beach/swimming area on the east side of the lake many years ago. Plenty of swimming spots just a mile or so south at Portage Lakes....Summit lake is an inner city lake that has no swimming.  there is fishing but fish from the lake are not safe to eat, there have been 3 alligators caught there in recent years (seriously) The area is known to be quite dangerous after dark.  There are some lovely  areas just south of the city that are much safer.  Summit Lake....not so much...

Yellow Creek
the week of july 3 has been a nasty one for yellow creek. a developer in richfield has clear cut into zoned conservation district. some of this district was even under the control of the western reserve conservation district and they were never informed. this land is within 100 feet of the northern most feeder creek to yellow creek. any help we could receive with this matter would be appreciated....

Cuyahoga River
10 miles away
The sewage treatment plant just up river of the put-in location can make paddling after a big rain a little smelly.  The park doesn't recommend any paddling on the river, and if you are going you should check their website for construction on the bridges along the way....

Virginia Kendall Park Lake
11 miles away
The dam was washed out in 2007, and is under repair. In the meantime it is very neat to be able to see the bottom of the lake. When I was a kid there used to be wooden toggonan runs that shot the tobbogans out onto the frozen lake at the end. The nearby Virginia Hills are still a great place for sledding, one of the best in the area.
Tamsin Park has been replaced by a housing subdivision. However, not far from Virginia Kendall in Boston is a American Youth Hostel, and there are several bed and breakfasts in the area as well. I don't know of any place to camp in the area (unless you are a boy or girl scout, they have camps nearby.)
If you enjoy biking, the nearby towpath trail winds along the old canal from Cleveland to Akron, and is a beautiful ride....

Lake O'Springs
13 miles away
This lake is a natural lake made up of many springs.  From the many arrow heads found around the lake there is no doubt that it was home to indiginous tribes at one time or another.  In the early part of the 20th century it was a summer retreat for some people.  In the late 60's early 70's it was a great venue for local bands to play and a summer park with swimming etc. as well....
