The beauty of York Lake attracts many people from all around. Hiking is a popular thing to do around York Lake; Bald Hill Trail is a magnificent local trail; gorgeous scenery and tremendous skiing is what you obtain at Tanglwood. Why not camp at Camp Tel Yehuda if you're here at York Lake, and not far from York Lake you'll locate Wolf Pond which is a lovely lake. This lake is so wonderful. Some nearby water includes Beaver Brook, and you'll never forgive yourself

Camping is available at Kittatiny Campgrounds, and don't leave York Lake without first going for a hike along the Schiff Trail. Tusten Mountain Lake is a lake that's near York Lake, and get wet paddling on Lackawaxen River. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at York Lake. Drift down the rapids of Shohola Creek in a kayak; after a long day outdoors
The Lodge at Woodloch is a fine spot to spend a night or two. Good hiking is available along the Steam Mill Trail; if you need a place to stay The Lodge at Woodloch is a great choice. For the duration of the long summer days here
at York Lake, high temperatures generally reach the 70's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to York Lake.

Shohola Creek
 | Raft??? First off, I cant see raft going through box canyon. It might be possible, but I wouldn't want to see someone I care about be the first. After the box, downstream of the route 6 bridge, you would need a lot of rain, I mean an awful lot of rain to get through the flat water section. Personally, I do some tough runs (CL4+) and I'm not sure I'd wanna be there with that much water. With plenty of water, medium level, we were scraping a lot in the flat water section. Also, in the canyon, if someone gets hurt, they are in for a bad day. This is evident by looking at a typo map or looking down from route three bridge. ''outside the state you might find the rivers here are more forgiving''. My travel for White Water is limited: NY, NJ, MA, CT, WV, MD, VT, NC. Never been out west. With my limited experience the above states and PA and 5 years kayaking including winter, I have no clue what the above quote means. Ratings CL1-5 (6 being a rating meaning it might not be runable), while far from perfect is a pretty good indication of water difficulty. Don't paddle here unless you know wha... |
