The summit of Hitchcock Hill can be spotted from Wixon Pond; why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Mahopac Golf Club. Lakes are such peaceful sites, why not stop by Long Pond in the neighborhood of Wixon Pond, and a good nearby hotel is Le Chambord. This lake is so wonderful. Skiing at Thunder Ridge is one of those things you just must do; Mahopac Point is reasonably       close. That right there is lots already, but it carries on; Wixon Pond has it all. Wixon Pond is a great spot to visit for more than one day, Camp Kiwi is a great spot to camp nearby, and Wixon Pond is a place with many visitors from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown. All the water falling down from the sky makes Wixon Pond a wet location; May is when you get the most rain here while January is commonly the driest month. You'll find a pretty lake called Lake                  Mahopac near Wixon Pond; if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Wixon Pond has to offer, you can camp at Clarence Fahnestock State Park, and whitewater paddling is glorious on Popolopen Creek. High temperatures at Wixon Pond through the summer months are in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's; overnight lows all through the wintertime for Wixon Pond tend to be in the 10's. If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Wappinger Creek; Holiday Inn Mt.
