Yep, outdoors entertaining things to do are beyond doubt bountiful here at Whitney Lake. Gateway National Recreation Area is a brilliant place close to Whitney Lake. The high level of precipitation makes Whitney Lake a relatively wet site; the wettest month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. On a delightful day it's a great idea       to spend the day at Bar Beach, and if you're here and you like golf, you can pop by Plandome Country Club. At Whitney Lake you always meet someone from New York-Newark-Edison, and dry warm beds await you at Inn at Great Neck. Tappen Beach is right next door to Whitney Lake if you're in a beach type of mood, and Whitney Lake is a good spot to visit for more than one day, Birchmont A Pierce Camp is a good spot to camp nearby. For the period of the days of                  summer highs here at Whitney Lake get into the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and overnight lows during the winter for Whitney Lake tend to be in the 20's.
