This lake is so wonderful. Hit the beach if you want, Moffit Beach is practically right here, and you can stay the night at Rainbows End. Man, is there a load of entertaining things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. On a wonderful day you get a view of Silver Hill from Whitaker Lake; do take a hike on the Northville Lake Placid Trail. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Whitaker Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Whitaker Lake is a rather wet place generally with a large amount of rain; throughout August this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is February.
