At Whippoorwill Lake you always meet someone from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown; after a long day outdoors La Quinta Inn and Suites Armonk is a wonderful place to spend a night or two. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Soundview Sports is a tremendous local campground, and if you've had enough of Whippoorwill Lake, Heaptaugua Lake is nearby. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Whippoorwill Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. High

| | temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 30's, and night lows at Whippoorwill Lake during the winter usually sink into the 10's. Whippoorwill Lake is a glorious site to visit for more than one day, Camp Echo Lake is a glorious site to camp nearby; while you're here, do take a visit to Big Peninsula.

gets a large amount of water; May is the month that gets the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. You're probably keen on lakes, Tercia Pond is one of those close by, and for you golfers
we recommend nearby Pleasantville Country Club.
There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Thunder Ridge.

...te sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin rd ele... |
