This lake is so wonderful. Do stop at Ilion Reservoir Number Two near Wheelock Pond, it's a pretty lake; hey, Steele Creek is a splendid local stream. This lake is so wonderful. Unadilla Lake is a nearby lake that you could have a look       at, and Bell Hill is beautiful and can be seen from here. From a rainfall point of view Wheelock Pond is a quite typical site; the wettest month of the year is generally June, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is January. If you come at the right time of year, West Canada Creek offers some magnificent whitewater, and if you're going to from Utica-Rome, you won't be the only one. Near Wheelock Pond you stumble on the California                  Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. Red Carpet Inn Ilion is a nice location to get some rest, and if you came for an overnight stay Elmtree Campsites is a pleasant place to camp. Going for a hike on the Party Trail is always a good adventure; Wheelock Pond is in the vicinity of Ilion Gorge which is definitely worth visiting. There are some great whitewater spots on Cincinnati Creek, and right next door to Wheelock Pond you stumble on a golf course called Doty's Golf Course. During the summer months here at Wheelock Pond, high temperatures commonly get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's.
