All the water falling down from the sky makes Wakely Pond a wet place; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while February is typically the driest month. If the weather is splendid here at Wakely Pond, you can go for a hike along the Sucker Brook Trail, and not far from Wakely Pond you get some good water scenery at Wakely Dam. Long Lake Camp is a magnificent local campground, and Wakely Pond is not the only location close by, Dishrag Pond is a close by lake.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Adirondack Mountains. Metcalf Mountain can be distinguished from Wakely Pond, and some of the water nearby flows, like Payne Brook.

Northville Lake Placid Trail
Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-...

Hell Diver Pond is a pretty little body of water located in the Moose River Recreation Area of the Adirondacks. The hike back to it is easy and short. Hell Diver is well worth the walk....

Buckhorn Lake
16 miles away
Buckhorn Lake is a private Association Lake located 2 miles north of Unadilla, New York (in Otsego County). Very friendly towns folk and this lake holds the New York State Record for a Large Mouth Bass caught in 1994. The lake is fed by many underground springs but is not ery deep. Makes for a lovely, though short drive around it....
