If you are in Hamilton county it's always a good idea to stop by Wakely Pond. This lake is one of the great places here in the Adirondack Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. A great location for whitewater paddling near Wakely Pond is Raquette River, and there are plenty of people from Gloversville here. Get your pulse rate up on the brilliant whitewater of Cedar River, and if you get bored of Wakely Pond you could also go to nearby Cedar River Flow. High

| | temperatures at Wakely Pond through the long summer days are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 20's with temperatures at Wakely Pond dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors fun things the area right next door to Wakely Pond has to offer. If you came for an overnight stay Hoss's Country Campground is a great spot to camp, | |

and on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the Northville Lake Placid Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There is a good hiking trail close to Wakely Pond called the Hamilton Mountain Fire Tower Trail. All the water falling
down from the sky makes Wakely Pond a wet place; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while February is typically the driest month. If the weather is splendid here at Wakely Pond, you can go for a hike along the
Sucker Brook Trail, and not far from Wakely Pond you get some good water scenery at Wakely Dam. All the outdoors exciting stuff in the Adirondack Mountains will keep you coming back over and over. Long Lake Camp is a magnificent local
campground, and Wakely Pond is not the only location close by, Dishrag Pond is a close by lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Adirondack Mountains. Metcalf Mountain can be distinguished from Wakely Pond, and some of the water nearby flows, like Payne Brook.

 | Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over.
