The beauty of Vassar Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. There are some fine whitewater spots on Esopus Creek; Mc Cann Memorial Golf Course is a perfect golf course close by. Vassar Lake is a wet place that gets lots of rain; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and February is the month with the least moisture. Hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is tremendous fun.

Vassar Lake is a place with many visitors from Kingston, and if you come at the
right time of year, Wappinger Creek offers some perfect whitewater. This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. Dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Poughkeepsie. There's so much to do here at Vassar Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Interlake Farm Campground is a nice spot for that.
