If you come at the right time of year, Boreas River - Upper offers some glorious whitewater. The warmest time of the year at Vanderwhacker Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Vanderwhacker Pond sink into the 0's. This place rocks, just check out all the fun stuff       to do near Vanderwhacker Pond. After a long day outdoors Courtyard Lake Placid is a wonderful place to spend a night or two, and Pine Hill is clearly visible from Vanderwhacker Pond. All the outdoors entertaining stuff in the Adirondack Mountains will keep you coming back time and again. The skiing at Gore Mountain is good, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Elk Lake Marcy Trail. Yeah, come up here to the Adirondack Mountains for a perfect time.                  Perch Pond is a nice lake near Vanderwhacker Pond, and Vanderwhacker Pond is right by the Dividing Ridge Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Boreas River. There's so much to do here at Vanderwhacker Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Whispering Pines Campground is a delightful location for that. From a rainfall point of view Vanderwhacker Pond is a pretty common spot; August is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is February. Vanderwhacker Pond is a beautiful lake in the Adirondack Mountains. Lakes? Sure, Trout Pond is close at hand; do take a hike on the Indian Pass Trail.
