You'll need more than a day to discover everything Upper Ausable Lake has to offer, you can camp at Shearer's Riverside Campsite; while you're here you can take a hike along the Elk Lake Marcy Trail. Through the summer months, highs generally are in the 70's at Upper Ausable Lake, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are commonly in the 20's with temperatures at Upper Ausable Lake                  dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Gore Mountain has great slopes and a friendly staff. Lakes? Sure, Elk Lake is in close proximity. If you're here at Upper Ausable Lake, you could stop by Cedar Brook, and if you come at the right time of year, The Branch offers some tremendous whitewater. From a rain point of view Upper Ausable Lake is a rather normal location; most of the rain falls during August, and the driest month of the year is February. And if that's not sufficient there's loads more fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. What would a location like Upper Ausable Lake be without attention-grabbing close by characteristics like Cy Beedes Ledge, and a wonderful close by hotel is Econo Lodge Lake Placid. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the neighborhood of Upper Ausable Lake. Really wonderful skiing awaits you at Whiteface Mountain, and not far from Upper Ausable Lake you'll locate Lower Asuable Lake which is a striking lake. Just can't get enough of the Adirondack Mountains. Swamps don’t sound that perfect but Marcy Swamp in close proximity to Upper Ausable Lake is quite perfect, and a trip to Jones Beach is always a great idea. Going for a hike along the Dividing Ridge Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and if you need a place to stay Courtyard Lake Placid is a pleasant choice. This lake is so wonderful.
