A delightful spot for whitewater paddling close to Third Lake is Rondout Creek, and an afternoon playing golf at Wiltwyck Country Club is always a bliss. This lake is so wonderful. Third Lake is not the only place nearby, Binnewater Lakes is a nearby lake, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Phoenicia Trail. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Third       Lake; Kanape Jeep Trail is a great local trail, and camping is available at Ulster County Four-h Camp. A lake nearby is Second Lake, and if you need a spot to stay Super 8 Motel - Kingston is a pleasant choice. This lake is so wonderful. Wallkill Valley is a perfect location to spend some time at; Fly Mountain is clearly visible from Third Lake. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Kingston,Ny is a brilliant place to spend a night or two, and tremendous                  hiking is available along the Willow Trail. So many entertaining things to do at Third Lake, so little time. A day on the slopes of Hunter Mountain is just what you need. Throughout the summertime here at Third Lake, high temperatures generally get into the 70's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 20's with temperatures at Third Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Take a little spree to Wallkill River if you're here at Third Lake; at Third Lake you always meet someone from Kingston. If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Saw Kill River, and a great place to camp here at Third Lake is Hidden Valley Lake.
