The summit of Black Rock can be observed from Tamarack Pond; a pleasant nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites West Point-Ft Montgomery, Ny. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Tamarack Pond; Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a glorious local trail, and there's whitewater on Popolopen Creek for all you thrill seekers. This lake is so wonderful.       The Woodtown Trail offers hiking at its best, and why not camp at Beaver Pond if you're here at Tamarack Pond. That right there is plenty already, but it goes on; Tamarack Pond has it all. And that's not all you can do here at Tamarack Pond. If you're a golfer then a wonderful nearby course is Central Valley Golf Club; there are some good whitewater spots on Moodna Creek. Sebago Cabins Harriman is a magnificent local campground; if you like skiing, you're                  in luck; Mt. Peter is pretty near. Tamarack Pond is not the only place nearby, Sphagnum Pond is a nearby lake, and if you need a site to stay Econo Lodge West Point is a good choice. Tamarack Pond gets lots of water; May is the month that gets the most rain; February is the month with the least moisture. There's delightful hiking along the Stillwell Lake Trail, and a day on the slopes of Sterling Forest is just what you need. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Tamarack Pond with night lows in the 60's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while Tamarack Pond overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 10's.
