    Do stop by Taconic Pond while you're in this part of New York. This lake is so wonderful. The skiing at Mount Greylock Ski Club is good, and dry warm beds await you at Jiminy Peak. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Taconic Pond; Taconic Crest Trail is a nice local trail. From a rainfall point of view Taconic Pond is a relatively common spot; July is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
Jericho Valley Inn is a splendid
 
   spot to get some rest, and the Williams Trail offers hiking at its best. A day on the slopes of Jiminy Peak is just what you need; there's splendid hiking along the Southeast Hollow Trail. Through the summertime at Taconic Pond temperatures are commonly in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Taconic Pond.

You'll need more than a day to explore everything Taconic Pond has to offer, you can camp at Aqua Vista Valley Campgrounds, and you can run the rapids of Hoosic River. Stay the night at Broken Wheel Campground, and get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Green River.
