Spearie Pond is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Spearie Pond. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Upper Sister Lake; paddling on Indian River is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. You can never get enough of the magnificent skiing at McCauley Mountain, and there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the Big Deer Pond

| | Trail. And if that's not sufficient there's loads more exciting things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. The summit of Buck Mountain can be spotted from Spearie Pond, and on a tremendous day you can take a hike along the Norridge Trail. This lake is so wonderful. During your journey to Spearie Pond you'll meet some folks from Ogdensburg-Massena for sure; close by you stumble on the Ash Pond Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail. Pond mostly tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are frequently in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Spearie Pond are in the 0's. Now, you may think
that's plenty but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. This is a pleasant vicinity for folks who like lakes. South Pond is a lake in close proximity, and Browns Tract Pond State Campground is
a great campground nearby. Spearie Pond sees pretty high levels of rainfall; most of the rain falls during August; February is the month with the least moisture. Spearie Pond is a magnificent place to visit for more than one day,
Tioga Point State Campground is a magnificent place to camp nearby; Moose River - South Branch has a fine whitewater paddling spot close by. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful.

Terror Lake
 | ...nter between its two lobs. It is dead to fish. It was named in the early 19th century before stillwater. The Carthage road went up the Beaver river drainage. Two brothers got lost up in the ridges above Terror Lake. Almost died. They found the lake and named it after their nights of terror. Guys used to hunt there in the fly in days. The last last guy to go there was a drainage ditch runner. Calls himself PH. Take his advice. It's a long way in and you MUST know the woods and be a woodsman. There are plenty of blow downs to go through overland. The way to go is via the end of Twitchell Lk. The Sisters who own the old Teahouse at the end of Twitchell are nice old girls. I saved their nephew one cold November night. They bought me some good whiskey. Anyway that's the way to get into Terror Lk. Follow the old trail into the South Branch Beaver River drainage. Head northeast for a good mile and keep the high ground to your right shoulder. Keep walking about 4 miles and make sure the big ridge is over your right shoulder. You can't miss the lake.
