Thunder Ridge is a very popular ski area nearby, and dry warm beds await you at Edith Macy Conference Center. This lake is so wonderful. A glorious location for whitewater paddling in close proximity to Sparkle Lake is Wappinger Creek. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn MT. KISCO (WESTCHESTER COUNTY) is a good spot to spend a night or two, and Sparkle Lake is not the only place nearby, Crom Pond is a nearby lake. For the period of the summer months highs

| | here at Sparkle Lake reach the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Sparkle Lake. This place, Sparkle Lake, it clearly has so much outdoors exciting stuff. you need to camp here for a while, Camp Discovery is a magnificent place for that, and while you're here you can play some golf at Sanctuary Country Club. Here at Sparkle Lake there are plenty of folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown,
and hiking is a popular thing to do around Sparkle Lake; Stillwell Lake Trail is a perfect local trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Sparkle Lake a wet spot; May is the month that gets the most rain; the driest
month is January. Sparkle Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Kiwi is a glorious local campground, and there's great hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

 | ...n chestnut ridge rd.back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck ... |
