This lake is so wonderful. A cool spot to explore in the neighborhood of South Pond is Browns Rock, and South Pond is a brilliant spot to visit for more than one day, OLD Forge Camping Resort is a brilliant spot to camp nearby. Lakes are magnificent; Twitchell Lake is a lake that's in close proximity to South Pond; the Norridge Trail is a fine hiking trail close by. But wait,       there's more amusing things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. You'll need more than a day to explore everything South Pond has to offer, you can camp at Nicks Lake Campgrounds, and this is a popular site for folks from Ogdensburg-Massena. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Playing golf is lots of fun at Thendara Golf Club, and the view of beautiful Twitchell Mountain is great. There is a great hiking trail right next door to South Pond called the                  Salmon Lake Trail. Having a fine time in the Adirondack Mountains is painless. North Bay is in close proximity and always perfect to go to; float down the rapids of Moose River - South Branch in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from South Pond, you'll find Jock Pond which is a beautiful lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Oswegatchie River - East Branch offers some pleasant whitewater. At South Pond all through the days of summer highs are in the 70's, and the night is a tad cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for South Pond. The high level of precipitation makes South Pond a pretty wet spot; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. I can't stop, cause I'm havin' a great time here at South Pond. Near South Pond you locate the Big Deer Pond Trail which is a perfect hiking trail; hey, Gotta ski right?
