There's whitewater on Black River for all you thrill seekers, and most likely you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Tom Kettle Lake is just a very short distance away. Newport Golf Club Of is a good golf course nearby, unsurprisingly you could also take a look at Curtis Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful. Near Snyders Pond you stumble on the Party Trail which is a wonderful       hiking trail, and a great nearby hotel is Americas Best Inns-Herkimer. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend West Canada Creek; why not camp at Trails End since you're here at Snyders Pond. The high level of precipitation makes Snyders Pond a reasonably wet location; September is the wettest month with most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Tygert Swamp is an exciting swamp near                  Snyders Pond, and Ash Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth taking a look at. You'll meet a lot of folks from Utica-Rome here. Camping is available at Adirondack Gateway Campground, and going for a hike on the Forty Mountain Trail is always a great adventure. Man, is there lots of fun stuff to do in the vicinity of Snyders Pond. Budget Inn Motel is a splendid site to get some rest, and you can go for a hike on the California Trail. Summertime highs at Snyders Pond regularly tend to be in the 70's; the nighttime is a tad chillier of course, mostly in the 50's.
