What a nice lake Smith Pond is. An average amount of precipitation falls at Smith Pond; the month with most of the rain is June; February meanwhile is the driest month. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff in close proximity to Smith Pond. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Taconic Skyline Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Knights Inn Castleton on Hudson/Schodack. You think that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Kinderhook Creek
 | 13 miles away There is a lot to run on the Kinderhook above Valatie. In fact, it can be run all the way from above E. Nassau. At E. Nassau, a nice boulder garden class II-III proceeds, with water attractions all the way to Valatie. Getting out at Valatie is difficult but necessary before the dam....There are two impassable waterfalls 60 plus feet high about two miles south of the Valatie water fall. There is no viable way around these falls without climbing down steep cliffs. We stopped about a half mile above the two stuyvesant falls. My understanding is there are old mill dams before you get to stockport. Somebody gave you really bad dangerous info.... |
