Woods Valley is a wonderful place to do that, and you'll hit upon a delightful lake called Bullhead Lake. Smith Lake regularly gets a great deal of rainfall; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. A good place for whitewater paddling near Smith Lake is Fish Creek - East Branch. This lake is so wonderful. Mohawk River is a good       whitewater spot near Smith Lake; swing by Pigeon Brook it's a delightful place to pop by. A perfect place to camp here at Smith Lake is CMA Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Red Carpet Inn Rome. Don't miss out on a visit to Fort Stanwix National Monument if you're here at Smith Lake, and Paul Revere Lodge is a tremendous spot to get some rest. For the duration of the long summer days at Smith Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's. Once the                  sun is down it dips down to the 60's. During the winter the highs are frequently in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Smith Lake. Man, is there lots of amusing things to do right next door to Smith Lake.
