Silver Lake is a nice lake to visit. Not far from Silver Lake you acquire some splendid water scenery at Kensico Dam; on a delightful day you can check out Oakland Beach. Camping at Camp Echo Lake is always a great experience, and a wonderful lake like White Plains Reservoir Number One is a magnificent spot to explore. This lake is so wonderful. Spring Lake is a great lake in close proximity to Silver Lake, and Parks Cove is nearby and always great to visit.

| | Enjoy a round of golf at Golf Club of Purchase not far from Silver Lake, and a day at beautiful Rye Beach near Silver Lake is a fine thing to do. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. A brilliant close by hotel is Esplanade Hotel; you'll meet a lot of folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here. This lake is so wonderful. Scenic Trail which is a good hiking trail. If you need a location to stay Crowne Plaza Hotel White Plains-Dwtn, Ny is a good choice, and Silver Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Soundview Sports is a great local campground.
Silver Lake gets a large amount of water; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and January is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Silver Lake during the months of summer are in the 80's; the nighttime
is a tad chillier of course, mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 30's while Silver Lake overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's.

The entry fee is 8$ per person. The north half of the beach was full of sea weed and very uninviting. It seemed to be not very deep all the way to the rocks, which can be fun to play in.... |

Lounsbury Pond

Dixon Lake
 | 19 miles away ...ridge rd.back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..... |
