A good place to camp here at Silver Lake is Ring Homestead Camp, and Mt. Peter has great slopes and a friendly staff. All the water falling down from the sky makes Silver Lake a wet location; through May this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is February. Lake Henneside is a delightful lake in the vicinity of Silver Lake, and camping is available at Korn's Shawangunk. If you need a place to stay       Howard Johnson Hotel is a pleasant choice, and Sandburg Creek is a good whitewater spot nearby. At Silver Lake through the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Silver Lake are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Hidden Valley is a very popular ski area close by. Middletown Super 8 Motel is a good location to get                  some rest, and golf can be played at Orange County Golf Club. This lake is so wonderful. Masonic Creek is a glorious local stream, and if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Beer Kill River - West Branch. This place is great, just look at all the amusing things to do near Silver Lake.
